What caused the decline of the RTS genre?
The RTS genre was very popular back in the day with games like C&C, Red Alert, Dune, Warcraft, Steel soldiers and many more. But over time these games fizzled out alongside the genre. I think the last big RTS game franchises were Starcraft and Halo Wars, but those seem to be done and gone now. There are some fun alternatives, but all very niche and obscure. I've heard people say the genre died out with the rise of the console, but I believe PC gaming is once again very popular these days. Yet RTS games are not. Is it a genre that younger generations don't like? Is it because it's hard to make money with the genre? Or something else completely? What do you think?
Exciting news! Auroria is working on a new game that's currently in development. If you're a fan of No Man Sky, you're going to love this one.
The game will require you to survive, collect resources, build houses and hunt monsters. Some screenshots of the game have been released, and it's looking really slick.
