Soul Spira is a side-scrolling RPG with simple controls and gameplay, with a bit of a nostalgic art style form the 2000's. Its story is a rather simple one, as it follows Vel Crestal, a female knight who aims to save a special someone.
The gameplay itself is really simple. A directional pad to direct where Vel is going, as well as attack and dash buttons. The attack button is self explanatory, while the dash button allows Vel to move faster and even move between 2 opponents. She can also use this to dodge incoming enemy attacks. Vel can also use special attacks and combos as well. Players can also tame monsters called Spirit Kins, and they are a big help sometimes.
I felt that the game is a bit slow-paced. I found that dodging enemies was a bit too easy, as I barely got damaged in the game. As for the story, it's just there, nothing really mind-blowing or intense, just by the numbers so far.
Overall, it's not bad. In fact, I actually had fun most of the time, though sometimes the game does feel like a chore, as non-boss fights are rather easy. Maybe make it a bit more challenging...
