Is Dofus Touch Worth Playing?

Translate
Honestly, before writing this article, I had never heard of Dofus, and I immediately said NO to Dofus Touch. When I opened the game, it had difficult UI, some lag, and rather seemed to be another badly ported mobile game to me.

Nevertheless, I continued to play the game, grinding my way to earning better gear. The game is an old-school RPG with an amazing art style and if you didn’t know, I have a soft spot for uniquely designed games.

“All I need is a little patience,” I said to myself.

As I played more, I found myself addicted to Dofus Touch as it is actually somewhat of a good game.

What is Dofus Touch?
So, Dofus is a tile-based RPG game that was first released on PC but is now remade into a mobile version to play free on iOS and android. The game has 15 classes to choose from with each character having their own unique element (chance, intelligence, strength, etc.). Each character can be played into different builds and played differently as I choose.
Pros
While the PC version is limited and has a subscription system to unlock new areas, Dofus Touch is actually a free-to-play open-world game. Everything was open for me to explore from the moment I created my character. There was one subscription added here but it was just a boost that multiplied the experience points I gained. So, the game is a true free to play game.

Another amazing fact about Dofus Touch was that it had an amazing storyline with well-written dialogues. I was sick and tired of playing MMORPGs that have a bad storyline and added the feature to autoplay. I despise that feature as at that point; you are not even playing the game. A robot is playing it for you. But Dofus Touch did not add auto-play. I loved the turn-based combat with no auto-play. The tactical turn-based combat system has a grid -based movement system which makes player movement and action points very limited. In addition, each turn has about 30 seconds for players to perform an action. So, it is essential to think smartly and strategically or you might run out of time. The combat system reminded me of Final Fantasy Tactics, and Fire Emblem. Both games, that would bring nostalgia to any old-school RPG gamer.
Now, let me take a moment to just to appreciate the amazing artstyle of Dofus Touch. The game has a 2000s cartoonish style artwork with a fantasy themed story attached to it. The artwork is the main attraction of Dofus that has kept attracting gamers of all age to this game. As far as the main goal of the game goes, the player is given the task of collecting dragon eggs called Dofus and trust me these dragon eggs are hard to collect. There is a lot of grinding and a lot of dungeons clearing to be done in Dofus. So, you won’t get bored here.
Overall, the game, in my opinion, would be a great choice for both casuals and hardcore gamers. It is very user-friendly after you get used to the bugs and runs you through a tutorial phase to teach you about the game. As the player progresses, the game gets more challenging. So, I am pretty sure OG hardcore Dofus players can just install the game and rush through the end game with their past knowledge.

Cons
Dofus Touch has a bad UI that definitely needs to be tweaked. When I was playing, the touch seemed to be buggy and did not take the input I was clicking on the phone screen. Then there were the random crashes that I faced when playing. These problems could have happened because of my device but the developers should definitely optimize the game and make it more compatible with all devices.

In conclusion, Dofus Touch is definitely not the type of game players are used to these days with their action-packed MMORPG with ultra-graphics. But it is a game where you can lay back and play just for fun without taking any stress on yourself. You can spend hours deciding how your eyebrow looks or which build should you be playing with your character. Dofus Touch to me was a pure run-down memory lane and a reminder that old-school RPGs are still good enough to enjoy today.
