Our Chinese friends seem a bit lost, having ended up on this Tap, but seem to have the right idea about the quality of the game.
I believe we can officially stop comparing this art style to that one game that used it. It has been used in enough games that comparing them all on the basis of the first becomes tedious. You all know what title I am talking about.
The story is animated, rather than recorded, so there is a decent amount of quality to it. The characters speak, rather than simply appear as images. The volume could be reduced, though. Voice appears to be amplified to the point of sounding muffled. At half volume on the device, the high pitched screaming is enough to make my ears bleed.
The battles are somewhat generic, but the effects are decent. There is a lot of room for strategy when you can swap between characters and then call additional ones into battle for a limited time.
The UI is very clean and well-organized. Every button feels like it is in the exact place it fits. It is easy to navigate and there are no mistakes when trying to navigate quickly, both in the game and in the menus. The mechanics flow at a reasonable pace, which also makes the game feel more relaxed when trying to learn the controls.
The art style is a good fit for this type of game, as it provides a lot of detail without much performance cost, but they may have went a little overboard on the shadows. I found myself thinking that the characters must be standing between a few different suns at times. It was not bad enough to hurt the overall appearance, though.
I like the direction this game is headed and recommend anyone who is a fan of the style give it a try.
