Having played some of the early betas, this game has seen a lot of progress. Some of that progress was unfortunately in removing user interaction.
During one of the early tests, you had to move the characters and could even turn the game sideways to use a joystick and buttons for direct control. I cannot say if these modes are still present after progressing enough past the tediously long tutorial. So far, it appears to be a bland automated story, where most of the action is clicking next.
The graphics are decent in the artwork and menus, but the game uses a pseudo 8-bit design for the battles. This would be amazing as a Galaga-style shooter, but it feels more like a top-down version of an old sidescroller arcade game.
There are a lot of places this game can really excel, but it feels like the developers settled for average instead of aiming for impressive.
