If you were a fan of games like The Last Crown, this would be how they look on crack.
The effects and quality are impressive all around. The animations are smooth and even selecting the card has a nice flow to how it operates. This makes 斩兽之刃 look outdated and that was one of the better games I have played this year.
The one part that fell a bit short was the cutscenes, which are similar to those found in the officially licensed games. They appear to be recorded at a much lower resolution (for space or loading) that makes them seem out of place.
The mechanics are relatively simple, but allow for a lot of strategy and variation. This is, of course, after you start building a deck. The opening strategy is fairly bland, but fills the void with lots of other parts being explained.
I was impressed by the first boss. Not only did his text vibrate to fit the sound of his voice, but there is a really neat scene after you initially defeat him. I won't spoil it for you. It is something you should really see for yourself.
Despite the extremely long development process, this promises to be a good game. Let's hope it will release some time before 2025.
