Bio Prototype - is an AWESOME Top Down Action Rogue Light that you SHOULD PLAY!

I had the pleasure of playing Bio Prototype the other day which on PC, but it is also available on Mac, and the Switch. This game was pretty hectic and wild and I had a lot of fun with it.
The story has you wake up as a monster, and in order to survive in this lab, you must evolve, and become stronger in order to take down the other monsters that are trying to kill you. There are no cinematics however, the story is just the base premise of the game and nothing more. Don't expect a deep story in this game. And that's fine because it's not the story that is the highlight of this game, it's the gameplay. You have to face wave after wave of monsters and dodge them while killing them. You have to be careful as they can easily swarm you.
This game reminds me a lot of others in the same style, for example vampire survivors and 20 minutes till dawn. If you've played games like those, then you will be very familiar with the combat gameplay of this game. As you progress to the next stage, you can choose different mutations, these mutations have a lot of text to read and can be overwhelming for those who just want to get into the battle of the game, but it's interesting enough to take your time because you can implant these mutations into yourself to make for some creative combinations.
The combination of mutations and attacks that you can have is up to you as long as it is compatible. Visually the game looks great too. With it's gorgeous top down pixel art, the visuals are very good looking. I loved the design of the creatures and the attack effects as well. It's simple, but effective, and it looks very good for a pixel art game. The games audio is good too, I didn't hear any misplaced sounds or effects, everything sounded like it belonged and the combat sound effects were also decent too. There is nothing to say about the sound, it's all done very well.
Overall I'd say that Bio Prototype serves to give you a great top down action rogue like experience with a creepy creature twist on the whole thing. Especially with giving you the power on how to swap in and out the mutations you earn each round, to make a combo that you desire, and not some random situation. So while the mods can be random, over time as you collect more of them, you have more freedom to mix and match as many combos as the game allows. Until you die of course, and you'll have to start again. I highly recommend you give Bio Prototype a go. You can find it on Steam, Mac, and on the Switch.
