Dunno where you got the "loved by fans" idea, but the beginning was the worst period of the game receiving heavy criticises of gamers regarding how stingy Square Enix was and the bad drop rates were. Some even went as far as to traslktalk the storyline (which I personally do not agree with) and the generic gameplay concepts. After a half a year, all of that went silent for some reason. But the sudden announcement of shutdown is new to me ~
