ᴍᴀssɪᴠᴇ sᴛᴏʀʏᴛᴇʟʟɪɴɢ, ɪɴ sᴜᴄʜ ᴀ ʟɪᴛᴛʟᴇ ᴘᴀᴄᴋᴀɢᴇ! The Sword of Ditto is a top-down action rpg developed by Onebitebeyond and published by Devolver Digital in 2018. The game received a content/patch fix update in 2019, which in turn gave the game a subtitle of “Mormos Curse“. On release The Sword of Ditto was met with tons of positive reviews, especially for its compelling narration and whimsical lot of characters.

ᴛʜᴇ ᴏᴠᴇʀᴀʀᴄʜɪɴɢ ɴᴀʀʀᴀᴛɪᴠᴇ:

You play as a young villager that has been volun-told to take up the most important position on the island of Ditto, to fight an incredibly powerful sorceress that plages Ditto and her people every century deeper and deeper into darkness. The first few minutes of game sets the tone very quickly for the player, by displaying the relentlessness of Mormos (since you actually play as the second attempt at fighting Mormos, because she makes quick work out of your predecessor). You are guided through your journey by a god-like dung beetle named Puku, and the people of Ditto to get you the needed resources and power to defeat Mormos.

This game operates like butter and every aspect of the UI is user friendly. The developers did a fantastic job of not overloading you with assets in the numerous menus that can be available in fantasy based rpg’s. I thoroughly enjoyed just exploring the landscape and numerous nooks and crannies of the game. From town center, to the numerous cave and catacombs , everything is design in such a interesting, vivid (and dare I say, cozy?) manner.

With the amount of action rpg’s on the market, I understand that an indie title can easily fall through the cracks. The Sword of Ditto is a title that can be utilized in two manners, as a challenging rpg, but also as a relaxing break away from your usual gaming catalog. There is more than enough content to keep you engaged and entertained however you choose to play. I hope you consider adding this fantastic title to your mobile gaming rotation.
