What are Kominfo’s latest standards on game screening?
In the last few days, there has been a fierce debate in Indonesian game communities, regarding of the new regulation by Menkominfo, Communication minister.
The new regulation has defined game ratings for electronic games, respectively as 3+, 7+, 13+, 15+, and 18+. Meanwhile, ten game-screening standards have been identified to explain things that should not appear or be done in different age ratings. According to the regulation, government has the right to block games that violate established standards and ratings.
The followings are the ten game-screening standards by Indonesian government:
1. Images of cigarettes, alcohol, illegal drugs and other addictive substances.
2. Violence
3. Bloody scenes
4. Use of vulgar language
5. Sensitive parts of human bodies
6. Eroticism
7. Gambling
8. Horrorable contents
9. Chat function
10. Violation of laws and regulation
It's worth noting that contents including these ten standards are not available for those under 13, but are all available for those over 18. Games with sex and gambling contents are regarded as ‘unclassifiable’, how do you like this?
