[b]How to unlock co-op mode

To unlock co-op mode, you actually need to make your way through ten chapters of the main story, and one chapter of an interlude story featuring Brock.

That means you will need to increase the strength of your Pokémon a hell of a lot before you get to co-op mode, and you should check out our guides from our Ultimate Guide in order to power up quickly and make progress fast.

Once you've gotten to this point, you should have all five league badges, and a bunch of sync-pairs fully powered up and ready to take on any opponents. If you don't, then it's time to earn some gems, get more sync-pairs, and then get leveling them up as much as possible through the training mode. Once that's complete, you'll be ready to play online in co-op mode.
